Best Approaches to Immigrate to Canada From India in 2021

India has long been a primary source country for Canadian immigrants. The number of Indians who became permanent residents in Canada has significantly increased over the past years. In this blog, we have broken down the best ways to immigrate to Canada from India!

The Immigration System of Canada allows skilled workers to apply directly for a permanent residence if they qualify for a program. Compared to the US, an Indian skilled worker could potentially wait decades before obtaining permanent residency.

Here are four of the simplest ways for Indian nationals to achieve their Canadian permanent residency:

Express Entry

Express Entry is a system utilized by the Canadian government to manage applications from skilled and qualified workers for permanent residence through three economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and the Federal Skilled Trades Class. In 2019 alone, Indian Citizens bagged 47% of the total invites which were issued by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

Canada’s ten provinces and three territories operate their own immigration programs, called Provincial Nominee Programs, or PNPs. It targets a specific demand of their local labour market depending on their economic and demographic needs.

If you do not qualify through a federal economic program, the following action is to consider provincial streams to your Canadian permanent residency pathways.

Work Permits / Intra-Company Transfers

Some Indian nationals may be eligible for a Canadian work permit. Usually, a job offer is required to obtain a work permit. However, a significant exception for this is an intra-company transfer.

Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW)

The province of Quebec has autonomy over its immigration system. It administers its own skilled worker immigration program. Comparable to Express Entry, candidates are also ranked using a points system and then invited to apply for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSW).
